IFPYB: Party Members Must Respect IFP Constitution

10th November 2009

The IFP Youth Brigade (IFPYB) rejects the view of self-appointed youth brigade leader, Muzi Simelane, to the effect that the youth brigade in KZN has nominated VZ Magwaza as candidate for President of the IFP at the April 2010 elective conference.

Mr Simelane has absolutely no leadership status within the party, having not been elected to any position he claims to hold.

I want to state categorically, on behalf of the IFPYB, that Mr Simelane is not a spokesperson for the youth brigade and that we, the rank and file of the IFPYB distance ourselves from these statements.

It is the IFPYB and the party position that all those who are making nominations for the position of party President are jumping the gun.

Mr Simelane, who prides himself to be an advocator of democracy, should know that the IFP is guided by its constitution, which stipulates clearly how nominations are made.

We are again calling on the small fraction of youth to desist from attempting to by-pass democratic process within the party by pushing their own agenda through opportunistic means, which is clearly in violation of the constitution and spirit of the IFP.

I want to appeal to all youth brigade members to remain disciplined at all times and to work towards unity, which is one of the unique qualities we possess which distinguishes the IFPYB from other youth formations.
