The South African Democratic Students
Movement (SADESMO) has called for IFP youth to unite and protect
the party and its soul.
"The IFP Constitution clearly states
that the youth is the vanguard of the Party. The youth is the
first line of defense for the Party," said Ntuthuko Majozi,
SADESMO President, during a Youth Day commemoration event at
Mtubatuba on 16 June 2010.
He continued: "We are calling for the
IFP youth to unite and protect the party from some faceless
opportunists who intend to steal the soul of the IFP".
He ended by reiterating SADESMO's
position to request the IFP President, Prince Mangosuthu
Buthelezi, to continue to lead the IFP after the Annual General
Conference.
"We still stand firm on our request that
Shenge continues to lead the IFP after the AGC. We fully
appreciate that he has already achieved a lot in politics and
that there is little for him to gain personally in remaining at
the helm of the IFP but our desire for his continued leadership
is motivated by our desire to keep the party unified so that we
as young people can inherit a strong party, not one depleted by
factionalism. We selfishly need him to manage the transition of
leadership to ensure that our beloved Party does not fall
apart," concluded Majozi.
