19th November 2009
Yesterday Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP
met with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican in
Rome.
The meeting took place during the three
day World Summit on Food Security which debated hunger in Africa
and saw His Holiness becoming very outspoken about the world's
incapacity to feed all its children.
Prince Buthelezi is equally concerned
about ensuring food security for all Africans, a campaign which
he himself has conducted for fifty years, with good results in
his own areas.
The meeting took place while Prince
Buthelezi was attending the 5th World Parliamentarians'
Convention on Tibet attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Prince Buthelezi had the privilege of chairing a session of this
5th World Convention which is deliberating on how
parliamentarians across the world can support the cause of
democracy and autonomy in Tibet which, as all parliamentarians
agreed, coincides with the cause of democracy, autonomy and
cultural diversity anywhere in the world.
The Convention placed great emphasis on
the very political methodology of non-violence, passive
resistance and active commitment which has inspired Prince
Mangosuthu Buthelezi throughout his life.
