IFP Makes Inroads Into ANC Membership

FP PRESS STATEMENT BY:
Mr Mdu Nkosi
IFP District Chairperson
eThekwini District

22nd July 2008

Hot on the heels of winning eight out of nine by-elections, the Inkatha Freedom Party has attracted about 100 former members of the African National Congress in the Ethekwini District who have joined it.

Commenting on this IFP victory in a statement issued today, the IFP District Chairperson in the eThekwini District, Mr Mdu Nkosi said:

"The 100 people who have ditched the ANC for the IFP provide irrefutable evidence of the inroads that the IFP is making into ANC territory.

Above that, this defection is a harbinger of what will befall the ANC in the next year's elections, especially when coupled with the fact that we have just won eight out nine by-elections.

"Obviously, more and more people are coming to the conclusion that if they want to make a positive contribution to the fight against moral decay, poverty and lawlessness, they must ditch the ANC, because even a child can see that the ANC has lost a moral compass. Fourteen years of ANC government have proven that it is not committed to the upliftment of poor people."

The IFP will hold a rally on Sunday, the 27th July at eMaqadini Sports Ground at 10h00 where its National Chairperson, Mrs. Zanele KaMagwaza Msibi will officially welcome the new IFP Members.
