The IFP caucus in the KwaZulu-Natal
Legislature has thrown its weight behind Prince Mangosuthu
Buthelezi as candidate for the position of party President
during the upcoming elective conference.
“It is natural that there should be debate
about the merits of candidates standing for elected office
during election time and we wish to contribute to this debate by
endorsing Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi as our candidate of choice
for the position of IFP President,” said IFP caucus leader and
Leader of the Official Opposition in KwaZulu-Natal Dr Bonginkosi
Buthelezi.
The IFP KZN caucus is proud of its association
with successive IFP-led provincial governments of KwaZulu-Natal
between 1994 and 2004 as well as the erstwhile KwaZulu
Government. “The IFP’s previous stints in government are
testimony to Prince Buthelezi’s extraordinary leadership
qualities and selfless dedication to the people of
KwaZulu-Natal,” said Dr Buthelezi.
The IFP KZN caucus is confident that Prince
Mangosuthu Buthelezi is the leadership candidate best equipped
to weather the storm following the party’s electoral setback and
ensure smooth transition. “Given his stature, Prince Buthelezi
is best placed to act as the unifying and reconciling force that
is needed at present,” said Dr Buthelezi.
