25th July 2008
The leaders of Inkatha Freedom Party in eThekwini will be at Lindelani at 9h00 on Sunday to help exhume the body of the late Mr. Bheki Mfeka who was buried within his premises last Saturday. Ms Sbongile Khoza, Mr. Mfeka's partner of 23 years, was forced to bury Mfeka within the yard of their house because she could not afford the funeral expenses and had been turned down by her local Councillor, Mr. DD Mabizela.
Having read in the Monday newspapers about the plight of this family, the leaders of iNkatha Freedom Party in eThekwini visited the family on Monday (21 July) and offered to help them with a decent funeral service for the late Mr. Mfeka. The family accepted the IFP gesture.
Consequently, the IFP leadership will visit this family on Sunday (27 July) to monitor the exhumation of the body pending the funeral scheduled for Thursday (31 July). The Destiny Funeral Service in Berea has offered to keep the body until the day of its burial.
