SADESMO National Spokesperson, Mr
Mkhuleko Hlengwa, today confirmed the names on the new SADESMO
NEC, elected on Saturday, 24th October 2009, at UKZN Edgewood
Campus, in KwaZulu-Natal.
The newly elected NEC is as follows:

Mkhuleko said:
"On behalf of the newly elected SADESMO
NEC, I wish to thank all delegates for attending the
Conference this past weekend. I am proud of the manner in which
they exercised their political mandate by ensuring that the
Conference went smoothly. We look forward to a healthy working
relationship with all members and branches. We wish to assure
them that their trust has not been misplaced. We will advocate
very strongly for the security of students' interests
throughout South Africa."
He added:
'The NEC has noted that some individuals
within SADESMO seem to be at odds with the outcome of the
Conference. I wish to state on record that the Conference was in
line with the Constitution of the SADESMO. The newly elected NEC
is legitimate. We will meet within the next 14 days to chart a
clear way forward and to determine how SADESMO can best serve
the interests of all South African learners and students.'
Mkhuleko concluded:
'President Majozi has made it very
clear that the NEC is "committed to restoring and strengthening
unity within the Movement and it is our solid expectation that
all members will respect, protect and uphold the SADESMO's
Constitution.
SADESMO wishes to extend the warmest
wishes to all Matric Pupils who, as of today, embark on their
final exams, and we encourage them to study hard so that their
results are favourable. We call upon parents, teachers and the
entire South African community to ensure that these exams go
well and without any hindrance.'
