The IFP calls for an investigation into
the sale of men’s hostel houses in Imbali following allegations
by the residents and local community that the sales have been
riddled with irregularities and a lack of transparency.
“For a long time, the community has been
receiving contradictory responses around the sale of men’s
hostel homes and the residents are rightly asking who owns the
houses they live in,” said IFP MP Velaphi Ndlovu who resides in
Imbali.
The IFP calls for an investigation into
allegations that the ongoing sale of men’s hostel houses in
Imbali, which dates back to 1998, has been handled in
contravention of the municipal policy and without adequate
consultation with the residents.
“We believe that only an impartial
investigation can shed light into the sale procedures and the
role former Msunduzi Municipality ward councillor Tu Zondi
played in the process,” said Ndlovu.
Zondi is now Deputy Mayor of the
uMgungundlovu District Municipality.
The IFP contends that the investigation
into the sale of Imbali men’s hostel homes is owed to the
residents and the wider community.
“The investigation and the answers it
will uncover should set a precedent for regular and transparent
sales of similar properties in the future,” said Ndlovu.
