Following a Provincial Disciplinary Committee
(PDC) hearing held at the IFP's Durban Head Office yesterday,
the IFP's KwaZulu Natal leadership resolved to expel its Durban
North Central Constituency Chairperson, Mr Mzonjani Zachariah
Zulu, with immediate effect.
Mr Zulu was charged on three counts of
violating the IFP's constitution.
"Mr Zulu has acted in a manner that is grossly
unacceptable for any leader at any level within the IFP. He
brought the IFP into disrepute, he dragged the IFP's name
through the mud in the media and he embarked on a campaign of
sowing disunity, sectarianism and disruption within the Party,"
said Dr BT Buthelezi MPL, the IFP's KZN Provincial Secretary.
The Committee reviewed Mr Zulu's conduct; his
utterances in undermining the IFP's Provincial Office; his
unrepentant attitude in leading two marches against the Party as
well as his threats to stage sit-ins in all IFP districts and
constituency offices across the province; and found him guilty
of contravening the IFP's Constitution.
"The committee resolved that his
transgressions were of such a serious nature that it warranted
expulsion from the party with immediate effect. Mr Zulu is
however free to appeal the finding and sanction of the PDC,"
concluded Dr Buthelezi.
