RESOLUTION
The IFP National Council met in Ulundi
on Sunday 18 July 2010 and adopted the following
resolution
POSTPONEMENT OF THE IFP ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE
Noting
1. The previous IFP Extended National Council and
IFP National Council resolutions adopted on Saturday 10 July 2010
which noted the ongoing ructions within the Party and resolved to
institute an enquiry into the conduct of the IFP National
Chairperson VZ kaMagwaza-Msibi and afford her an opportunity to
clear her name;
2. That the IFP Annual General Conference
scheduled for 23-25 July 2010 should only take place subsequent to
the normalisation of atmosphere within the Party;
3. That the IFP National Chairperson VZ
kaMagwaza-Msibi had submitted a medical certificate ahead of this
session of the IFP National Council and, as a result, this session
of the IFP National Council was unable to make progress in resolving
the current ructions within the Party;
4. That the divisions in the Party are becoming
increasingly more violent resulting in the loss of life such as the
fatal shooting of Mr Michael Makhathini and the recent clashes
between loyal IFP members and those associated with the ‘Friends of
VZ’ during a Party meeting in the City of Johannesburg;
5. That the recent auditing of branches has
revealed the existence of a number of bogus Party branches which has
called into question the eligibility of the participation of these
Party structures in the IFP Annual General Conference;
6.
That certain Party structures such as the uThukela District, the
eThekwini Metro District, the Amajuba District, the Indlovu District
and the Newcastle Constituency have not met their constitutional
requirements to participate in the IFP Annual General Conference;
and
7. That the absence of these structures would
compromise the democratic character of the IFP Annual General
Conference.
The IFP National Council therefore resolves:
1. To postpone the IFP Annual General Conference
until
(a)
the IFP National Chairperson VZ kaMagwaza-Msibi has been
afforded the opportunity to clear her name;
(b)
the relevant Party structures have been reconstituted;
(c)
such a time when the current divisions have been resolved and
the atmosphere in the Party is conducive to holding a successful
elective conference that will be expressive of the true will of the
IFP’s rank and file; and
(d)
an IFP National Council meeting has been convened by the end
of October 2010 to reassess the progress made in the above-mentioned
areas.
