The IFP Women's Brigade National Council noted with concern, statements made by the ANC Women's League, inviting the IFP National Chairperson to come over to the ANC as women were allegedly persecuted in the IFP.

The Women's Brigade National Council resolves:

1. To strongly condemn the ANC's hostile and unwelcome interference in the internal affairs of the IFP Women's Brigade and the IFP at large.

2. To applaud the input of the female component of the IFP National Council in response to the ANC statement, which has unanimously expressed dismay at the allegations of ill-treatment of women in the IFP.

3. Urges the ANCWL to concentrate on their own problems, in their own organisation, and to leave us to smoothly and peacefully grow and transform the IFP.

2. IFP WOMEN'S BRIGADE SUPPORTS PRINCE MANGOSUTHU BUTHELEZI

The IFP Women's Brigade National Council pledges its support for our President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the current democratically elected leader, to continue leading us during these trying times until the party is ready for a transition.

The Women's Brigade National Council resolves:

1. Noting that on two previous occasions in 2004 and 2006 Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi indicated his intention to retire but remained in his leadership position at the unanimous insistence of the Annual General Conference.

2. Urges Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi to continue unifying the leadership of the party, which will ensure a smooth succession transition when the time is ripe. We appreciate his consideration on the matter.

3. 2011 LOCAL GOVERMENT ELECTIONS

Women constitute more than half of the IFP's membership and that the party has since its inception in 1975 treated them accordingly; with respect and the dignity they deserve.

The IFP Women's National Council noted:

1. That the 2011 National Council Local Elections are closing in.

2. That the Women's Brigade is hands-on at by-elections to ensure our victory as a party.

3. Women will work towards dominating the 2011 Local Government elections as women Ward Councillors and not just as PR Councillors.

4. Call upon all women in the IFP to join hands and to work together to make the 2011 local elections a success for the IFP.

4. 2010 WORLD CUP

The IFP Women's Brigade National Council noted with concern the rise in reported cases of human trafficking, especially of young girls and women, and drug trafficking as we head closer to the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

The Women's Brigade National Council resolves:

1. To caution our women and all South African women to be alert when these criminals approach them and to report such cases to the police.

2. To educate our young women about the dangers of human trafficking and the negative effects of it in 2010 and beyond.
