The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s Brigade welcomes the life sentence handed down by the High Court in Pretoria to Nicholas Ninow (the Dros Rapist) who raped a 7-year-old girl at a restaurant in Pretoria in 2018. As the IFPWB we celebrate that justice has been served befitting the crime he committed against an innocent little
girl.
This sentence comes after 13 months of court appearances, mental hospital visits, various bizarre interjections, poems and suicide threats by Nicholas Ninow. We also welcome the further 10 years for two additional charges.
We commend the excellent work of police and prosecutors who have given South Africans faith in the justice system of the country with this conviction. We are relieved that the justice system didn’t fail the little girl and her family even though the girl’s life will never be the same again, but we hope this sentence will bring the much-needed comfort.
As the IFPWB we are against any form of child abuse and violation of their rights. No rapist should get away with such heinous crime. We call for life imprisonment for all rapists, so as to halt the continuous sexual abuse on children and women in this country. Government should immensely intensify efforts in the fight against increasing cases of rape and violence in communities, in order to save the lives and dignity of children and women.
Such unfortunate and unholy activities contribute immensely in destroying the lives of many innocent children and women in the country. This social ill calls for life imprisonment without possibility of parole, to serve as a lesson to other criminals and paedophiles who take advantage of innocent victims to satisfy their sexual desires. They all must rot in jail for the longest time.
To reinforce the voices of all South African women and children affected by violence and sexual abuse, the IFP will tomorrow, on Friday, the 18 th of October 2019, march against gender-based violence in Durban. The march will take place in Central Durban from King Dinuzulu Park to Durban City Hall.
The IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa and members of the National Executive Committee will join the party’s Women’s Brigade in delivering a memorandum of demands on government. The memorandum will be hand-delivered to the National Minister of Police Bheki Cele.
All are welcome
