Bring To Book The Killers Of Inkosi Mathonsi

Dec 7, 2016 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party calls on the KZN MEC of Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda and the Hawks to ensure that the killers of Inkosi Linda Mathonsi are arrested without delay.

“When a human life is lost, it is never easy to accept. It is much worse when a life has been taken by the hand of a fellow human being in such a callous manner. It is even more unbearable when the person who is killed is a public role player, such as Inkosi Linda Mathonsi. Among Amakhosi he was highly respected and was ever-willing to assist and give advice in solving community issues. It is shocking that such a valued citizen of KwaZulu-Natal has to depart this life in such a tragic manner after being killed in his own land,” said IFP National Chairman, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“Those responsible for investigations they must ensure that they speedily leave no stone unturned in bringing the culprits to book. They must send a clear and strong message that no killing of Amakhosi will be tolerated, especially in our hard-earned democracy. To really do justice about what is going on here, much more should be investigated than simply this murder, this is an assassination,” continued Mr Gwala.

“The untimely death of Inkosi Mathonsi has caught us by surprise and it is a very big shock. We are deeply hurt and affected by the sudden departure of Inkosi Mathonsi. The IFP conveys its deepest condolences to the INdlunkulu, members of the family of Inkosi Mathonsi, His Majesty the King, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi (Traditional Prime Minister) to the Zulu monarch in both capacities as Prime Minster of the Zulu Nation and the President of the IFP. Our condolences is also extended to the Chairman of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial House of Traditional Leaders, Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza, the Mathonsi clan and to all Amakhosi. We further wish that his daughter will fully recover from her injuries,” concluded Mr Gwala.
