IFP Welcomes 20yr Jail Sentence For ICASA Boss Rubben Mohlaloga

Feb 15, 2019 | Press Releases

The IFP welcomes the 20-year jailtime sentence for Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) Chairperson,  Rubben Mohlaloga‚ following a fraud conviction.

His time behind bars has finally come, should his bid for leave to appeal fail.

Mohlaloga is a former ANC MP, ANC Youth League Leader and was the chairperson of parliament’s portfolio committee on agriculture when he was found to be involved in money-laundering and fraud linked to a R6 million Land Bank scam.

We have for a very long time called for action against Mohlaloga, yet our calls fell on deaf ears and despite the numerous allegations against him, which have now been proven in court to be factual, the ANC deployed him to the top leadership post within Icasa.

It is shameful, that the ANC continues to recycle fraudsters within their ranks. Icasa under the leadership of Mohlaloga has been dismally lead and the authority had remained completely toothless in executing its duties.

It is our hope that more ANC cadres and comrades will fall on their swords as justice prevails in our society. We will follow developments around Rubben Mohlaloga’s appeal process.
