Independent Candidates
The Electoral Commission has received a large number of independent candidates for the 2016 election, many of whom are disgruntled members of various parties who did not make it onto candidates’ lists.
Regrettably, because we cannot have two candidates standing in the same ward, a few IFP members have also chosen to stand as independent candidates. This is a decision they have taken of their own accord and it is not endorsed by the IFP.
There is no truth in the message that they are standing with the support or the blessing of the Party. A vote for an independent candidate simply takes a vote away from the IFP.
I therefore urge you not to vote for independent candidates, in the mistaken belief that they represent the IFP. Only a vote for the IFP will strengthen your voice.
Relations between the IFP and ANC
This past week an image popped up on social media of my photograph superimposed onto an ANC billboard. Whoever designed this false image clearly wants to sow the lie that I support voting for the ANC. It is deeply mischievous and sets back any talk of reconciliation between our two parties.
The Daily News and Isolezwe picked up on this story and quoted the IFP’s Chairperson of our National Campaign Committee stating, in no uncertain terms, that the IFP has NOT joined the ANC.
For those who may have seen this image on social media, and are wondering what it means, I want to set your mind at ease. There is nothing but mischief behind it.
Let your vote declare that we don’t fall for lies. VOTE IFP!
