Christmas Message By the Hon. VF Hlabisa, MPL President of the Inkatha Freedom Party

Dec 24, 2020 | Press Releases

On behalf of the leadership of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), my own family and the entire IFP rank-and-file, I wish to take this opportunity to wish every South African a very blessed festive season, and a prosperous 2021.

2020 has been a difficult year for all of us.

Having found ourselves in difficult economic circumstances in recent years, many families in our nation have been left destitute, and this situation has been further exacerbated due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As we approach this Christmas Day, let us be mindful that many families have lost their incomes, and even their homes. Let us therefore extend a hand of solidarity and support to a neighbour in need.

This Christmas, I also want to thank every South African who proactively cares for our nation. In particular, I wish to thank the medical staff on the frontlines of the battle against Covid-19, and the law enforcement officials who continue working hard throughout this busy time of year.

I also thank faith-based organisations and every NGO that keep providing both resources, and hope.

South Africans have proven time and time again that they can overcome dire circumstances. We are a resilient nation. This in itself is remarkable. However, we still have a lot left to prove in the fight against Covid-19.  The mutated strain of this virus is now wreaking havoc on families and a healthcare system already under strain.

On behalf of the IFP, I wish to convey my sincerest condolences to every family who will be without loved ones this festive season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  I call on each and every one of us to recommit ourselves to sanitising, social distancing and to the wearing of masks.

In 2021 we need to prove ourselves capable of halting the onward march of Covid-19, excising the cancer of corruption from our body politic, and boldly revaluating and rebuilding our economy.

I also wish to thank every individual who takes the daily decision to respect the rule of law. I further urge our country’s men once more, to lead in the fight against Gender-Based Violence. Let us do everything in our power to protect the women and children we love.

I pray for our country’s leaders, and for the moral revival of our nation. May God bless us this Christmas season and inspire us for 2021.
