The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal calls on government to enforce greater transparency and scrupulousness in public financial transactions and awarding of contracts.
"These transactions must be subjected to due process and must conform to the Public Finance Management Act in order to root out corruption. It is disturbing that huge sums of money are lost through fraudulent deals on the part of some government officials. This must be tackled head-on," said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, MPL.
"What used to be petty theft in our public institutions has now aggravated into well-organised crimes to the detriment of economic progress of the nation. If allowed to continue unchecked, it will ruin our country by denying it of resources to undertake development of projects and maintenance of existing infrastructure. The situation of the majority of South Africans has worsened in the last past 20 years due to corruption and ineptness of the government," concluded Mr Gwala.
Knowing the IFP's track record of clean governance, we call on all South Africans who want a progressive government, to vote in masses for the IFP in the upcoming local government elections and by-elections to help restore hope and turn the fortunes of the nation around.
