The IFP has strongly condemned the ANC Provincial Government for abusing tax-payers’ money to advance party – political campaigns. The IFP said this in a statement issued today by its KwaZulu-Natal Human Settlements Spokesperson, Joshua Mazibuko, following today’s visit to Mtubatuba by Human Settlements MEC Ravi Pillay.
MEC Pillay went to Mtubatuba to launch Sukuma Sakhe and Disaster Management Initiatives. Reacting to the visit, Mazibuko said: “It is politically disingenuous and cunning of the ANC to abuse the taxes paid by the poorest for purposes of service – delivery, to advance ANC campaigns, as Mtubatuba is up for By-elections.
“I sympathise with MEC Pillay because as an ANC deployee, he has to do the bidding of his party, however repugnant. His visit today was nothing more than a continuation of the well-known ANC’s dirty strategy to charge ANC MECs and government departments to “invade” Mtubatuba under the pretext of service delivery. Obviously the primary objective is to politically drug communities into voting for ANC on May 6.
“This is not the first time that the ANC government has done this. They did so during the Nongoma and Mooi-Mpofana by-elections; as well as on many other occasions before.
“We condemn these strategies as political thuggery of the worst order. If ANC are a giant they claim to be, they must have the courage to compete fairly and honestly in the political market-place. Their dirty strategies are an indirect admission that they have messed up so much that they need to be shock-absorbed through vote buying.
“We urge Mtubatuba communities not to forget that the recently dismantled Mtuba Municipality was messed up by the same ANC, just as they have messed up South Africa.”
