The violent protest by residents of Mandeni, calling for the removal of ANC Mayor Siphesihle Zulu, is a clear indication that the people of KwaZulu-Natal are becoming extremely impatient with the state of service delivery in the ANC-led municipalities.
The IFP believes that the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal must do the right thing, by instructing its Mandeni Mayor Zulu, to step down with immediate effect because he has failed the people of Mandeni.
We cannot allow a situation where businesses are destroyed due to the failures of the ANC. Mandeni residents are suffering at the hands of the ANC-led government due to empty and unfulfilled promises.
It is a well-known fact that if Mandeni was an IFP-led Municipality, the KZN MEC of Cogta, Nomusa Dube Ncube and her political party would have called for the Mandeni Municipality to be dissolved or to be placed under administration.
But because the MEC is a master of dirty tactics and skilled at the game of cheap politics, she is hell-bent in protecting her incompetent comrades for the sake of securing their support. We know that she has aspirations of becoming the KZN Premier, after the upcoming 8 May elections.
It is no secret that the ANC has failed the people of KwaZulu-Natal. The education system and health system are crumbling. The creation of employment and the fight against corruption has been a futile one.
The people of KwaZulu-Natal need an IFP government that they can trust. A government that is accountable, transparent, and can deliver in their promises.
We should not have a country where public officials and public office bearers when accused of corruption merely step aside and take a short leave, after-which they then are reinstated with no action taken against them. We must create a country in which there will be no corruption and where public funds will be utilized for the collective benefit of all.
As the IFP we condemn the destruction of property during service delivery protests.
We also urge all concerned citizens to rather show their frustration at the ballot box by voting against the ANC.
