IFP Welcomes Announcement of the 2016 Local Government Elections

06 April 2016

As the IFP we welcome the announcement of the election date. The 3rd of August 2016 is a good date for a number of reasons. This is the beginning of summer and in most parts of the country the weather will be favourable for all including the elderly.

An announcement of this nature being could not have come at such an opportune time, as this will encourage voters go out in numbers to register to vote and to check their details on 9 and 10 April 2016. As a consequence of the electoral court decision, voters must now give more details than was the case in prior elections, this we see as a good change as it minimises the chances for electoral fraud.

As the IFP encourage all eligible voters to go out and register to vote IFP for local government elections on 9 and 10 April 2016 as this will be the last chance to do so.
