Appreciation for the Dignified Funeral for the Late Hon Dr LPHM Mtshali

On Saturday, 19 December 2015 the Late Hon Dr LPHM Mtshali, former Premier of KwaZulu-Natal and long-serving member of the Inkatha Freedom Party was laid to rest.

“On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Inkatha Freedom Party and the Mtshali Family we express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic of South Africa His Excellency JG Zuma, the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Hon ES Mchunu and the officials from the Premier’s Department for affording the Late Hon Dr LPHM Mtshali a dignified Provincial Official Funeral. This was indeed a fitting gesture for a person of the calibre of the Late Dr Mtshali who served our nation with distinction. The funeral service was well-organised and dignified. Speakers from different political parties paid glowing tributes to this son of the soil who was well-respected for his leadership and political acumen”, said IFP National Chairman Hon Blessed Gwala MPL

“The IFP is, however disappointed with the poor service provided by the bus companies that were commissioned to transport mourners to the funeral venue. We have reports that busses did not stop to collect people from places such as Eshowe, Empangeni and other pre-determined pick-up points. Many mourners waited long hours for transport that was promised but never arrived to bring them to the funeral. We have raised this matter with the Office of the Premier as we believe that it would be inappropriate and wasteful if these bus companies are paid for services that they did not provide efficiently’” concluded Hon Gwala.
