Hitachi Payments A Shame On ANC

The Inkatha Freedom Party heralds the 19 Million dollar settlement payment by Hitachi to the US Securities and Exchange Commission in respect of charges of improper payment by Hitachi to ANC front company, Chancellor House as constituting a clear prima facie admission to corruption related activity between the two parties.

IFP Chief Whip in Parliament, Mr Narend Singh, MP, said, “This is a blinding indictment as to how business with this government is conducted, and has been conducted in the past. If you are not politically well connected and aligned to the ruling party, you have little or no chance of securing tender awards and contracts with government departments or entities. This results in burgeoning corruption, sub-standard service delivery with South Africa and all South Africans being the ultimate losers,”

“The IFP supports calls for this matter to be thoroughly and forensically investigated by the Office of the Public Protector as transactions of this kind not only undermine our Constitution and flout the rule of law, but
also tear apart the very delicate fabric of the effective democracy we are trying to establish in South Africa,” concluded Singh, MP.
