IFP: ANC Cadre Deployment Affects the Performance of Municipalities

“ANC cadre deployment policy should be blamed for the instability in many municipalities. This follows a recent intervention by the MEC of COGTA, Nomusa Dube-Ncube in many municipalities such as the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality an ANC-led municipality,” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“We want the MEC to give clarity about the future of Mr Nkosiyezwe Vezi, the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipal Manager. We are aware that his contrat expired in January 2018 but he still reports to work.

Many ANC -led municipalities are in shambles such as the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality and the Msunduzi Municipality. We are also aware that other ANC led-municipalities the Mooi-Mpofana, Inkosi Langalibalele and Edumbe have already been put under administration.

ANC patronage in municipalities continues to threaten the stability and prosperity of our nation. And if ANC cadres continue to do as they wish, without being held accountable for their actions, then the reality is that tomorrow will be far worse than today.

Cadre deployment is crippling the institutions of Government. It is evident in municipalities across South Africa, where qualifications and competence are secondary considerations to whether or not the applicant for a position is a card-carrying member of the ANC,” continued Mr Gwala.

“The Inkatha Freedom Party says the only way to resolve the current chaos in the problem-stricken Msunduzi Municipality, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality and Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality is to have fresh elections so that the people can vote for a government that will work for everyone. It is high time NOW for these councils to be dissolved.

It is a well-known fact that if it was an IFP led municipalities the MEC and her political would have called for these municipalities to be dissolved, but because they are governed by the ANC the MEC is trying by all means to protect her comrades. These municipalities are in dire need of competent leadership,” concluded Mr Gwala.
