The IFP has today submitted to the Speaker of Parliament a request for debate on a Matter of Urgent Public Importance in terms of Rule 104 of the Rules of the National Assembly regarding the ongoing #FeesMustFall Campaign.
In his letter submitted to the Speaker this morning Mkhuleko Hlengwa MP, IFP Youth Brigade National Chairperson, asserts that “The Constitution, and the Bill of Rights in particular, assures the citizenry of the right to education and it is common cause that all rights come with responsibilities; and I maintain that the National Assembly has a responsibility to confront that which threatens what the Constitution guarantees.”
The IFP hopes that this request will reach the favourable consideration of Speaker Mbete, MP, and that this debate may be scheduled for the next available plenary sitting day.
