IFP Cautiously Optimistic on Lockdown Level Adjustment

The IFP notes President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement this evening, that the country will be entering level one of our phased approach in our lockdown strategy. However, we remain cautiously optimistic.

Whilst we are easing the levels in our strategy and dealing with Covid-19, the fundamental issue during this time remains that we continue to prepare our healthcare facilities. We must ensure that we monitor our responsiveness to the possibility of a second wave, as we observe the international trends pointing to a Covid-19 resurgence.

This announcement is certainly a welcome relief for the recovery of our economy, as we ramp up our efforts to restore the many losses experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our plea to South Africans is that we continue to take extraordinary precautionary measures to safeguard our families and loved ones against Covid-19. Our call to South Africans is to exercise maximum discipline, and not to act recklessly, in contravention of the law, and thereby place the lives and health of others in jeopardy.
