IFP Condemns eThekwini Municipality’s Political Bias in Job Opportunities

The IFP has expressed its strong disapproval of eThekwini Municipality’s decision to employ MK Veterans in Municipal Security Services. This was said by IFP Member of eThekwini Municipality Executive, Cllr Mdu Nkosi in a statement he issued today following reports that the Municipality is hiring MK veterans to provide security in the municipality.

Nkosi said: “The IFP strongly condemns the party-political bias shown by the eThekwini Municipality which according to reports is only hiring uMkhonto weSizwe Veterans as security personnel. There are many qualified young residents citizens in this city who are not yet employed, primarily because the very ANC-led government has failed to ensure conditions that are conducive to economic growth. Now that very same ANC government in the form of eThekwini Municipality shows favouritism by employing only uMkhonto weSizwe Veterans as if they are the only ones who are the citizens of this city.

“In addition, currently there are men and women who have faithfully provided security to eThekwini Councillors for a long time. Why are they not integrated into the City’s Security Services so that they continue with their good work? ”

“As the IFP we will strongly oppose any employment process that is not transparent and which is driven by party-political considerations. Thus we call on the Municipal Manager Mr. Sbu Sithole to release an advert so that every qualifying citizen of eThekwini can apply,” concluded Cllr Nkosi.
