IFP Condemns Racist Facebook Remarks By Mrs Penny Sparrow

The Inkatha Freedom Party condemns in the strongest terms, the recent comments made by Mrs Penny Sparrow on her Facebook page referring to black people visiting the beaches of Kwa-Zulu Natal as “monkeys.”

Such racist remarks are totally unacceptable, will not be tolerated and appropriate action will be taken. We are in the process of consulting our legal advisors and are carefully considering taking such further action, which may include referring the matter to the SA Human Rights Commission as well as laying criminal charges against Mrs Sparrow.

Such racist utterances have the possibility of enflaming racial tensions in our country and destroying the social cohesiveness we are all trying to work so hard towards as South Africans. They have no place in our New South Africa.

Whilst we condemn in the strongest possible terms the draconian and racist utterances of Mrs Sparrow, we also implore South Africans to not take matters into their own hands, but to rather use the channels provided for in the law of our country in order to seek appropriate redress in this matter.
