IFP: Condolences to Families of victims of Richards Bay boat accident

The Inkatha Freedom Party in the Province records it’s heartfelt condolences to the families of employees who lost their lives when a boat transporting officials responsible for serving shark safety gear capsized in Richards Bay on Wednesday morning. Five employees tasked with changing the shark net which protects Newark Beach and who were aboard the boat were casualties in this tragedy. It is reported that one employee is still missing and we pray that he is found soon.

It is indeed sad to learn of the untimely and tragic death of these distinguished men who were committed to ensure the safety of beachgoers. Ironically, it is the line of duty that they lost their lives to protect others.

The safety of workers in all situations should be paramount and in this case an investigation should be conducted to seek a legitimate explanation and reasons that led to the accident.

The senseless loss of lives is always very difficult to understand and the grief that it brings to family and loved ones cannot be alleviated by mere words of comfort but in this time of great sadness, we pray that the peace of GOD comfort and strengthen all those who are mourning this tragic loss of lives.

We express our gratitude to the National Sea and Rescue Institute (NSRI) team that responded to the call and who is involved in the search of the missing employee.
