IFP Councillor gunned down in Mandeni

The Inkatha Freedom Party has learnt of the tragic news of the passing of its PR Councillor in Mandeni, under ILembe District, last week Friday.

Cllr Sbani Robert Mdletshe was shot to death as he was about to enter the Spar supermarket in Mandeni. He was first elected as a Councillor in 2016.

As the IFP in ILembe District, together with the Mandeni constituency, we convey our deepest condolences to the family of Mdletshe and to the IFP as a whole, especially in Mandeni where he was serving as a Councillor.

The party has lost a servant leader who was fully committed and always had the best interests of the community at heart. We wish to further condemn this horrific act and note that there appears to be a pattern of Councillors being killed as we approach the election season.
