IFP extends condolences on passing of Joseph Shabalala

On behalf the IFP Founder, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP and our President, Hon. Velenkosini Hlabisa MPL, the IFP extends our sincere, most heartfelt condolences on the passing of South African legendary musician and internationally renowned artist, founder and musical director of the South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Uwile umuthi omkhulu!

The news of the passing on of a formidable giant in the music industry and the incredible role Joseph Shabalala played in taking South African music abroad during some of our toughest moments in history as a country, will always be remembered as one of his valuable contributions to South Africa.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo has bagged many awards locally and internationally and has made our country proud on all stages. Joseph Shabalala will be fondly remembered for his contribution in opening up the music space for youth development.

Mshengu rose from difficulty to the highest pinnacles of international recognition, inspiring every South African that with discipline, focus and commitment, he proved that, despite all odds, nothing is impossible.

The greatest legacy any South African can leave behind is that of the ability to inspire others.

The IFP extends condolences during this time of bereavement to the Shabalala family, to his friends, to all in the music industry locally and abroad, and to each and every person he revered, at this time of deep grief and sadness.

May his soul forever rest in perfect peace, lala ngoxolo Mshengu!

Zohamba insizwa, kosala izibongo!
