On behalf of the IFP President Emeritus and Parliamentary Leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, MP and the IFP Caucus in Parliament, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences on his passing to his wife and children, loved ones, friends and extended family.

Hon. Simon E. Mfayela served the IFP for many years as a Councillor. He also served as the iLembe District Mayor and in 2019 was sworn in as a Member of Parliament serving in the in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP). Hon. Mfayela also served in the position as IFP Deputy Provincial Chairperson in KwaZulu-Natal.

The passing on of Hon. Mfayela comes at a difficult time for all South Africans as we observe the regulations of lockdown and the limitation of guests to attend the funeral.

Therefore, the Mfayela family has requested that we respect the adjusted Level 3 of Lockdown and respect their wishes for privacy.

We pray for comfort at this time of bereavement. May his soul forever rest in perfect peace.
