IFP EXTENDS HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF XOLANI GWALA

It is with deep sadness that the tragic news of the passing-on of veteran journalist Xolani Gwala was confirmed this morning by members of his family.

The IFP extends our heartfelt condolences on his passing to all who loved him and who will miss his voice on radio and his dapper presence on our television screens.

To his immediate family, his dear friends and fellow colleagues in the media industry, we wish you comfort and strength during this trying time.

Our country mourns the loss of a veteran, a fondly remembered household name, whose career as a reporter, news anchor, producer, talk show host and current affairs fundi, was deeply rooted in speaking truth to power as he fearlessly pursued, truth, justice and answers to tough questions for the public.

Mr Gwala’s unfortunate loss in his battle against cancer should be a reminder to all South Africans that screening is incredibly important and early stage detection may save more lives.

May the soul of Mr Gwala rest in eternal peace, the IFP and South Africa salutes you.
