IFP leaders to undertake a toxic tour of South Durban

IFP Leaders, comprising MP’s and Councillors will undertake the Toxic Tour of South Durban, hosted by the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA), an organization committed to advocating for environmental justice in and around South Durban.

The Toxic Tour is around the South Durban hot spots specifically Merebank, Wentworth, Bluff, Clairwood, and the Jacobs area since it was seen to be a priority area due to the clustering of multiple industries. There is more than 180 smoke stacks from industries around South Durban and these smoke stacks release tons of hazardous chemicals that contribute enormously to greenhouse gases.

The IFP leadership will undertake the Toxic Tour in order to acquire first-hand experience within these communities and thus be able to make informed decisions on the role they can play towards ensuring that all people realize the dream of living healthy and fruitful lives.

DETAILS OF THE TOUR ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Date: 02 August 2019
Venue: IFP Head Office (departure at 12h45)

ALL MEDIA ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
