The IFP has sent a statement in which it is conveying its sympathy for the passing away of Sam Nzima, a man who took the Hector Peterson photograph in 1976. In a statement issued on Sunday (13/05/18), IFP Deputy National Spokesperson Joshua Mazibuko said:
“The IFP wishes to join multitudes of South Africans who are mourning the unexpected departure of Mr. Sam Nzima. Nzima was a freedom fighter in his own right. He singlehandedly brought the cruelty of apartheid oppression to the eyes of the world through the famous Hector Peterson photograph he took during the 1976 Soweto Uprisings. His death is a loss of yet another hero of our country.
“The IFP sends its condolences to the Nzima family and all who were positively affected by the life of this patriot.”
