IFP: SCOPA Chairperson on Brief Leave of Absence

The Chairperson of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts and the IFP’s National Spokesperson, the Hon. Mr Mkhuleko Hlengwa MP, is unwell.

We wish to confirm that the Hon. Mr Hlengwa has taken a brief leave of absence, having been admitted by his doctor for observation, routine tests and treatment in a Durban hospital. Having felt unwell for a few days, Mr Hlengwa was tested for Covid-19. Fortunately, the test came back negative yesterday evening.

He is presently recovering and in good spirits, having been assured that he will be able to return to work next week.

During this brief absence, any IFP media enquiries may be directed to the Hon. Mr Narend Singh MP, Parliamentary Chief Whip of the IFP.

We wish Mr Hlengwa a speedy recovery.
