IFP Seek Answers on the Status of eDumbe Acting Municipal Manager’s Contract

The Inkatha Freedom Party seeks answers from the KZN MEC of Cogta, Nomusa Dube Ncube about the status of eDumbe Acting Municipal Manager’s contract on whether it was extended or not.

“We have been informed by our councillors in the eDumbe Local Municipality that the contract for the acting municipal manager came into an end on the 15th August 2017 but he still continues with his duties. Now we want the MEC of Cogta to tell us whether this contract has been extended and if so on what grounds was it done. The ANC had appointed their own municipal manager which our councillors declined in the EXCO. That matter has not been resolved but this acting municipal manager is implementing policies unilaterally,” said IFP National Chairperson, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“The eDumbe municipality is dysfunctional since the budget has not been approved to date. The ANC councillors are objecting to discussions around the deficit that occurred in this municipality under the previous leadership. The MEC must rise above politics and use her Constitutional powers to intervene in this municipality. We need to always put the interests of the people first,” concluded Mr Gwala.
