IFP: Service Delivery Protest Against Zululand District is Politically Motivated

The Inkatha Freedom Party has accused certain political parties in Zululand District of trying to score political points by turning residents against the council.

“We believe that a planned “wild cat” protest which will take place tomorrow, against the ZDM, we consider that it is aimed at frustrating and provoking the executives in particular the District Mayor.

The sudden spike in service delivery protests is political motivated and part of a plot to destabilize Zululand District Municipality.

Certain parties refused to accept the results of 2016 local government elections and will do anything to destabilize a municipality.” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala.

“Political parties need to accept the results of the 2016 elections. The people have spoken and those disgruntled with the results should allow the IFP to do their job and provide the much needed services to the people.

These parties are bitter because they no longer control certain municipalities and, through protests, they are resorting to a struggle strategy, while the IFP is busy taking drastic steps in fighting corruption,” continued Mr Gwala.

“Inefficiency and maladministration is a direct result of the failed coalition between the ANC and NFP which brought the municipality to its knees. The problem we have here, is of Satan who hides behind the cross and this is happening in many municipalities across the country.” concluded Mr Gwala.
