The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal has slammed ANC councillors at Jozini for failing to attend the council meeting which was to elect the council executive today.
“We find the behaviour of the ANC councillors at Jozini highly irresponsible. They refused to attend the council sitting today and remained in their caucus room until the sitting had to be adjourned. By doing this they have deprived the people of Jozini of having the executive committee elected so that service delivery could commence without further delay. Due to their actions elections will have to be rerun in this municipality at enormous cost to the tax payer and inconvenience to the community .
These ANC councillors have clearly demonstrated that they do not care about serving the people of Jozini but are only concerned about positions for themselves. They must realise that they were given a mandate to serve the people and not serve themselves. People have placed their trust in these councillors but they have let the voters down due to their selfish actions.
The IFP is ready to serve the people of Jozini and we are ready for the elections. We call on the people of Jozini to take note of those who have let them down by such irresponsible behaviour”, said Cllr V F Hlabisa, IFP KZN Provincial Secretary.
