IFP Statement: 5 Mthonjaneni Councillors Dismissed

The IFP National Council having met today, 12 May 2021, in terms of section 11.10 of the IFP Constitution has unanimously resolved to expel from the Party the following councillors of Mthonjaneni Local Municipality (Melmoth) with immediate effect:

1. Mr Sibonginkosi Biyela (Mayor)
2. Mr Eric Masikane
3. Mr Tholinhlanhla Ngema
4. Mr Zipho Ndlovu
5. Mr Nhlonipho Buthelezi

The above have been found guilty of conduct inconsistent with the IFP Constitution and were in defiance of Party instructions.

Accordingly, the above individuals are no longer IFP Councillors and the affected municipality has been informed of this decision.

The IFP will make announcements with regards to the filling of the mayoral vacancy in due course.
