IFP Welcomes Appointment of National Police Commissioner

The Inkatha Freedom Party welcomes the appointment of career police officer, General Khehla John Sitole, as the new National Police Commissioner.

IFP national spokesperson on Police, Inkosi EM Buthelezi, MP, said, ”The IFP has long been calling for the appointment of career police officer to this important national portfolio. General Khehla brings with him a wealth of experience which will augur well for the position and for the SAPS in general,”

“The new National Police Commissioner has his work cut out for him though as criminality and lawlessness is out of control in South Africa. Public confidence in our SAPS is concerning and general morale amongst our police officers is low. Corruption remains rampant and it will be the task of the new National Police Commissioner to begin the arduous process of identifying and weeding out such criminal elements from within the police services,”

“The IFP wishes General Khehla well with his appointment and we look forward to supporting his efforts as he brings new energy and drive to the SAPS,” concluded Buthelezi, MP.
