IFP WELCOMES ARRIVAL OF COVID-19 VACCINE ON MONDAY

The IFP welcomes Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize’s announcement that South Africans can anticipate the first batch of Covid-19 vaccine next week. They are expected to arrive at OR Tambo International Airport on Monday.

This is certainly a milestone for the country, and a welcome relief for the over 1.2 million frontline health workers who have endured the most challenging conditions in our healthcare facilities.

We urge Minister Mkhize to proactively ensure that the Department of Health exercises a zero-tolerance approach toward any form of corruption, or any person trying to undermine the successful roll-out of this vaccine.

The IFP will closely monitor the implementation of the first phase of the vaccine roll-out process, to ensure fairness, and to ensure that those scheduled to receive their inoculations receive it.
