IFP welcomes Concourt ruling on President Jacob Zuma

The IFP welcomes this morning’s Constitutional Court ruling regarding former President Jacob Zuma’s appearance before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.

The ruling by the Constitutional Court, that former President Jacob Zuma obey all summons to appear and testify under oath at the State Capture Inquiry, is a victory for justice. It strengthens our country’s commitment to the Rule of Law, and the unwavering protection of our constitutional values.

The impasse and the prolonged legal battles regarding the former President’s attendance and appearances before the Commission have been unnecessary, and have caused many delays.

Today’s ruling by the Constitutional Court will ensure that the Deputy Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo, will finally be able to conclude this report into State Capture.

We therefore urge former President Jacob Zuma to comply with the summons issued to him, and to ensure that justice prevails.
