Opening Of The Tourism Information Centre At The Ulundi Civic Centre

REMARKS BY
PRINCE MANGOSUTHU BUTHELEZI MP
INKOSI OF THE BUTHELEZI CLAN AND
PRESIDENT OF THE INKATHA FREEDOM PARTY

I cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to join our team at the Ulundi Municipality and our friends at the Divine Life Society to celebrate the opening of this Centre. This is the fruit of a wonderful partnership; one that goes back many years.

No matter how many times I witness the generosity of the Divine Life Society in serving our people, it never ceases to amaze me. Building centres like this is a practical expression of service, because this Centre will meet an important need in our community.

Not only will it offer a gateway to tourism and the consequent economic upliftment, but it will offer a place for our youth to engage in a very positive way. I want to thank the Municipality for having the vision to conceptualise this space, and I want to thank the Divine Life Society for having the generosity of spirit to invest in it.

I will say more about this partnership when we gather at the Mahlabathini Sports Field, but for now I simply want to express my gratitude. It is in places like this that destinies are forged and lives are changed. Make no mistake; this is not just a building. It is a place of hope and possibility. It is a place where big things can be birthed.

I look forward to seeing the good that emerges as we, the community, use this Centre. I hope it will become an open door, not only to Ulundi, but to the best that Ulundi has to offer.

We call Ulundi “The City of Heritage” because this place holds a vast treasure of history and culture. It is a matter of pride to see people coming from outside Zululand and even from outside South Africa to experience our heritage. Let us present it with pride and with warmth. Let us show the world why Ulundi is a place of such significance.

I thank you.
