Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Turns 90

Legacy Celebrations kick off with Thanksgiving Ceremony

The month of August 2018 marks the commencement of the official celebrations in honouring the legacy of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

As planned by the Legacy Celebrations Committee, led by Prince Zuzifa Buthelezi, the first event is on course to take place in Durban at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Sunday, 19 August 2018. Characterising the genesis of his upbringing and values that underpin his life, the Thanksgiving Service will be a time to reflect and contemplate the blessing of longevity. Thabo Makgoba, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Anglican Church, the spiritual home of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, will conduct and lead the religious proceedings.

As part of what underscores the values of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, leaders from various denominations and religious organisations will participate through offering intercessions. It will be a time to break bread together.

The service is scheduled to start at 09h00 and it is a prelude to the main event.

On Monday, 27 August 2018 is the actual Birthday of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. It is this day that THE FAMILY has billed UMGIDI WASEKHAYA. It is open to all South Africans who will find it in their hearts to make the trip to ULUNDI SPORTS FACILITY. KUYOBE KUSINDWE NGOBETHOLE! UMntwana wakwaPhindangene will celebrate together with isiZwe sakwaButhelezi who, together with Amakhosi AkwaZulu, will take turns to celebrate a life well lived.

People are invited to wear their traditional best to this occasion where thousands are expected to descend on Ulundi for the festivities. It will be the definitive celebration punctuated and underscored by joyous revelry. It is the place where it all began. The day will also be marked by live performances including Amahubo.

Issued by Ikhono Communications, for and on behalf of the Legacy Celebration Committee.
