Statement to the Media

On 18 June 2021, I issued a statement to the media, expressing concern that the media had not published a statement issued by Prince Buthelezi, on the passing of Dr Kaunda. I wrote this statement after purchasing some newspapers, hoping that they had published his statement, but unfortunately, none of these newspapers had published Prince Buthelezi’s statement of condolence.

Subsequent to my statement being published, the IFP Media Directorate notified me that the media did in fact cover the statement of condolence by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi on the passing of Dr Kaunda.

I hereby retract the statement that I issued to the media on 18 June 2021, and express my sincere apologies to the media at large for my error in expressing the concern because they did not publish Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s statement of condolence, when the media had actually published such.

I apologise for any inconvenience that my statement might have caused.

Thank you.
